The Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers, in conjunction with the Great Lakes Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC), is pleased to provide the Indiana Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) system with an exclusive opportunity for training in the “Teaching - Family Model (TFM).” The Teaching Family Model is a trauma informed, evidence-based practice which emphasizes therapeutic relationships between a child and their parents/guardians. The Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home is providing the TFM training, and their organization has over thirty (30) years’ experience in training providers in this important evidence-based model. Given the increased state focus on family-based approaches to clinical care, this training is important for your organization and it is highly recommended your CMHC participate in this unique training event. Under this training opportunity, the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home will not only provide your staff with training on the TFM model, but your staff will be trained as trainers to further implement this model within your organization.
This training event will require an organizational time commitment for staff involved in the training. The training is being held July 22-26 at the new Embassy Suites in Noblesville, IN. We are hosting the event prior to the Indiana Council Summer Quarterly meeting, being held at the same location.
This training is supported through a grant the Indiana Council received through the MHTTC. As such, the grant is supporting the cost of the training. Due to federal restrictions on the grant, the grant is unable to support the cost of overnight stays and food. As such, the registration fee is being used to cover the cost of meals and breaks.
Under this training there will be an opportunity for your CMHC to register two (2) individuals as “Trainees”. These individuals will be participating over the course of the entire training program from July 22-26. These individuals will further be trained to provide the Teaching - Family Model to other staff within your organization. Further, this grant is supporting the cost of a two (2) individuals from your organization to attend this event as “Observers”. These individuals will be authorized to attend the training for the first 1.5 days, as part of the “pre-service” training, ending at noon on July 23rd. Under this training, the registration fee is $180 for individuals fully enrolled as “Trainees”, and $40 for “Observers.”
Following successful completion of the training, fully enrolled participants will receive certification in the “Teaching - Family Model”, and each organization will receive a training manual.
After completing their train-the-trainer, CMHC trainers will have an opportunity to conduct training to additional CMHC staff training under observation from the United Methodist Children’s Home between August 5th-7th, 2019. The CMHC trainers will additionally participate in a day of advanced training on August 8th, 2019. This training will also be held at the Embassy Suites Noblesville and additional information if forthcoming.
