The Indiana Council is pleased to offer an important and timely meeting of community mental health professionals designed to improve healthcare for all Hoosiers! We are excited to focus specific sessions on collaboration with the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and honored to have Dr. Kristina Box, Indiana State Health Commissioner, as our keynote speaker. At the meeting, you will hear directly from the ISDH Medical Director, who will present information on the critical nature of collaboration between public health and community mental health providers. As we are all aware, there is a high correlation between public health epidemics and those suffering from a mental health or substance use disorder. We will also discuss issues and opportunities under the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Mental Health Shortage Designation process administered by the ISDH. Further, this conference will afford the opportunity to build partnerships with the United States Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The VHA is focused on improving collaborations with the community mental health center system as a new VHA initiative is focused on improving access to care for veterans in their local communities. We will also focus on aspects of the Medicaid program. First, you will receive an update from Covering Kids and Families (CKF) on Medicaid and Exchange enrollment trends and policy considerations. Next, FSSA will provide an important update on the community engagement program. It’s important our providers stay abreast of program requirements to ensure community mental health consumers have access to care. Finally, hear from a leader in perinatal substance use and family advocacy, who will update the members on the important work needed to ensure our most vulnerable Hoosiers have access to treatment. This conference is occurring concurrently with the Indiana Council’s Teaching Family Model training at the same location, so your organization may want to coordinate participation and travel arrangements with those attending the training. The Indiana Council is offering a discounted registration rate of $100 for each Teaching Family Model Observer attendee.
